HON. BENNY OSORIO (RET.)
Having served 10 years as a Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court, Hon. Benny Osorio (Ret.) brings vast experience from presiding over wide array of civil litigation matters. While handling voluminous law and motion matters, discovery disputes and trials, Judge Osorio undertook numerous mandatory and voluntary settlement conferences. Recognized by his colleagues on the bench as being highly successful in resolving cases, he would often receive requests from other judicial officers to settle their cases short of trial.
Appointed in 2008, Judge Osorio quickly moved to the civil division where he handled a mix of unlimited civil trials and calendars at the Chatsworth, Mosk and Burbank Courthouses. Having extensive trial experience as a judge and attorney, he gained invaluable insight as to the risks and rewards of taking a matter to trial.
Judge Osorio served on the Court’s Executive Committee, the Technology Committee and the Civil and Small Claims Committee. He also served on the Technology Workgroup and the Online User Group of the Judicial Council’s Center for Judicial Education and Research (CJER).
Prior to becoming a Judge, Judge Osorio served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where he tried over 70 jury trials and was later honored by the Association of Deputy District Attorneys as the 2005 Deputy District Attorney of the Year for Los Angeles County.
